Workshops

Q: I’m interested in the Advanced Group Workshops (all 4) on Friday. Do I need to register in advance for that or can we just register at the door?? Is there a limit to the number of people in the class with a possibility of getting full?

A: There’s a very remote possibility of the classes getting too full. Class sizes were quite sizable during last year’s Cardinal Classic workshops at the same Friday time. We expect similar attendance this year. You may pay online to secure a spot and avoid the line or come early to buy your passes as there will be a long line.

Registration

Q: I am the treasurer for the <XXX> Dancesport team. Our team pays for all of our members registrations, but the only way our school allows us to withdraw money from our account is to write a check so I was wondering if you can accept a check for our payment, and if so who I should make it out to and what address I should mail it to.

A: You may register and pay for everyone at once. Entry fees are $30 per person for students, or $45 for non-students.
Make the check payable to Stanford Ballroom. For the mailing address, please email treasurer@sbdt.org.

Q: I was curious what the registration fee is for students who are ONLY entering the formation event. We have some students who are attending the entire day’s events but the majority of our formation team is only coming for the formation event.

A: Formation team only is $20 (which includes unlimited admission to the ballroom). Anyone wishing to compete in other events (plus/sans formation) will need a Competitor pass instead.

Q: Entry Fees are $30.00 for students, as far as the upgrade goes, the student’s will be, $40.00. Is that correct? What about the evening spectator admission? What is the cost and is there an upgrade on those also?

A: Yes, that is correct for student competitors and upgrade to front row seating.
Evening spectator admission is $20 for general admission, $30 front row seating.

Q: I am registering to dance at the Cardinal Classic, and I was wondering about dance entrance eligibility.  It looks like Gold is restricted to syllabus choreography, but latin ChaCha/ Rumba two dance is under this category.  Is it okay to have open choreography for this level?  Also, are Gold and Advanced considered two levels in a row?  or is Advanced separate, which would allow competition in Silver, Gold, and Advanced?

A: Gold level events are restricted to syllabus steps, no open choreography is allowed.  Gold and advanced are considered 2 consecutive levels, so one cannot register for silver, gold, and advanced.  One can register for silver and gold, or gold and advanced.

General

Q: Can anybody watch and if so then how much is the spectator fees? Are cameras and photographs without flash permitted?

A: Yes, everyone is welcome to watch! Photographs with or without flash are always permitted. Cameras are permitted for the entire time except for the showcase at around 10:30 for professional courtesy. Tickets: $5 daytime, $20 evening, $30 evening front-row seating, at the door or online.

    Hi,

I notice that you mention Senior (Over 35) events in the Rules. However, there are no Senior events offered on o2cm or on your schedule. We would very much like to see Senior Standard and Smooth events.

      Hi James,

In the Rules page, we have mentioned Senior (Over 35) events. (This is mostly content from previous years).

We have not added Senior events because we have not finalized the schedule yet. (Every year, the evening schedule is jam packed).

At this point, most likely we will add the Senior events back. Sorry for any inconveniences caused.

    Hi,

I was wondering whether a leader can dance with 2 partners for 2 different events? For example, can he compete with one partner for an open event, and another partner for the syllabus silver event?

    Thanks!

Yes, a leader can dance with a different partner for each individual (not combined) event.

    Hi,

We would like to attend the evening performance by Valeri and partner. Do you happen to know when they will be performing?

    Thanks,
    Keith
